The Wurm Empire was the interstellar empire of the Wurms, possibly ruled by King Ottak. The empire spanned across star systems, including the one containing the Valnaxi homeworld.
In an attempt to gain the world's position so that they could invade the rest of the galaxy and to prevent opponents from invading Wurm space, the Wurm attacked the Valnaxi and fought them in the Valnaxi-Wurm War, ending in 118 with the extinction of the Valnaxi. The empire still existed two thousand years later.
Any Valnaxi artwork found by the King in his pursuit of all art warrens in the next two thousand years would be shipped back to the Five Curves of the Empire and publicly desecrated. (NSA: The Art of Destruction)
