The World Space Patrol was the third section of the World Security Council. Headed by Commander Zero and based at Space City, the World Space Patrol controlled all the military spaceships of the Solar Empire and was responsible for defence and attack in the event of a space invasion. History[]
In January 2065, Fireball XL5 investigated an automatic space mayday coming from Area 4 of Sector 25, which was found to originate from a space freighter that had been hijacked by Batmen. The Fireball crew pursued the freighter to an asteroid in hyperspace but Steve Zodiac, Professor Matic and Doctor Venus were captured by the Batmen while they searched the asteroid on jetmobiles. Steve was temporarily forced to surrender control of Fireball in order to save Venus's life but was able to use Robert the Robot to expose the leader of the Batmen as a human gangster in disguise. Steve suggested the Batmen would be risking an attack from the World Space Patrol if they continued with their leader's plan. The rest of the Batmen, especially Valeen, were unwilling to chance it and wished to return their peaceful ways. Consequently, the freighter crew were awoken from their "frozen sleep" and allowed to leave while Steve accepted Valeen's request to take the impostor back to Earth. In March 2065, the Fireball crew were reported to be stranded in space. (COMIC: Power Play, PROSE: Superjet Shot Down) Into April, they were also involved in the destruction of Saharis (COMIC: Duel of the Daleks) and the disarmament of a dangerous Omega-Minus device which was headed towards Earth.
