Structural wonders

A large number of the known wonders of the universe were structurally-based wonders, notable for their large physical size (The Spire of Canopus IV), great complexity and effect on their civilisation (Great City of the Exxilons) or size of information held (Library on Kar-Charrat. (TV: Death to the Daleks, PROSE: Ghost Devices, AUDIO: The Genocide Machine)

Much like the Library on Kar-Charrat, other notable wonders of the universe are information stores or notable museums, the Braxiatel Collection was noted a noted location for rare and unusual items for much of its existence, for humans the Museum and Archive of the Tellurian Stain was notable as it tracked humanity's expansion through the universe. (PROSE: Theatre of War, The Colony of Lies)

A couple of the wonders had similarities to certain Earth-based structures such as the Martian Sphinx on Mars and the 3999 Intergalactic Olympics Stadium on Micawber's World. (PROSE: Mission: Impractical, Placebo Effect)

Like Great City of the Exxilons the Jewelled City of Glude once had been a great wonder of the universe, but following intervention by an outside influence – Follyrood had the city destroyed for a media production. (COMIC: The Greatest Movie Never Made)

Planetary wonders

Several planetary wonders were noted as wonders of the universe. Terraforming of colonisation of planetary bodies sometimes qualified an object to be notworthy of wonder inclusion, the terraforming of Jupiter's moon Io in the 40th century marking it out as a wonder of the universe. (PROSE: Legacy) While Eknur 4's tourist attracting landscape and its status as a colony marked it as wonder. (PROSE: Superior Beings)

Cotter Paluni's World, discovered by Cotter Paluni had beautifully dangerous lightning skies, inducting it into a notable realm of a wonder of the universe, it unfortunately downed most ships visiting the planet. (AUDIO: Red Skies)

Much like the Jewelled City of Glude and the Great City of the Exxilons the Twelve Moons of Dhost were witnessed to be damaged, with two of its moons being destroyed by missiles (COMIC: The Greatest Movie Never Made)

Some wonders such as Siralos defy conventional planetary categorisation, as a planet of pure psychic energy it was one of the more unique planetary objects in the universe, and was exploited by the Tremas Master to attempt to capture the Doctor. (GAME: Destiny of the Doctors)

Cultural wonders

Earth culture was the centre of several cultural wonders of the universe. According to the Sixth Doctor viewing Star Wars on the big screen made it a wonder. (PROSE: Mission: Impractical)

When the Charrl inhabited Earth their civilisation claimed to three hundred creations, each noted as wonders of the universe. (PROSE: Birthright)

Environmental wonders

Some wonders of the universe had to be experienced; walking mountains of Haskor or the Waters of Empathy on Paxis Majoritis. (PROSE: Mission: Impractical, AUDIO: Empathy Games)

Vehicular wonders

Due to its size the Ziggurat of Cornucopia, which for a time was considered a structure where it lay above Cornucopia was revealed by the Eleventh Doctor to be a spacecraft (COMIC: The Cornucopia Caper)
