Who Was 'Ere! was one of the longest comedic comic stories published in The Doctor Who Fun Book. Four pages long, it offered a satirical look at the Doctor in popular culture and mythology, featuring "archeological evidence" of the presence of several different incarnations of the Doctor in various periods of world history.

- A cave painting found in Norwich and dated as "at least 300 00⅓ years old" depicted the First Doctor, Ben Jackson and Polly Wright running in terror from a wooly rhinoceros.
- Tim Quinn and Dicky Howett unearth the lost tomb of the Pharaoh Andicapp, where they find a papyrus dating back to 1000 B.C. depicting the Fifth Doctor and a Cyberman, as well as a drawing of a comet.
- The Fourth Doctor gives the following directions to Christopher Columbus to reach "the New World": "straight up for three million miles, left past Venus, first right and you can't miss it!".
- The Third Doctor advises Benjamin Franklin (whom he calls "Ben") to pun some rubber-soled shoes before he continues his work with kites and electricity.
