Whist was a card game. In 1746 Scotland, Cedric Perkins once offered to play it with Polly Wright and Kirsty McLaren to pass the time until Grey returned. Later, in 1914 England, the Seventh Doctor masquerading as John Smith often enjoyed whist with Joan Redfern, but they never made serious wagers on the game.
