Warner was a communications technician aboard Nerva Beacon. He was responsible for redirecting Pluto-Earth Flight One-Five from doing a dropover on the Nerva, which was under quarantine because of an apparent plague infection killing off the crew. Not long after this, he was bitten by a Cybermat and infused with its venom, the real culprit behind the crew's deaths. The Fourth Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith, Harry Sullivan and the surviving Nerva crew failed to save him. Despite his strong constitution, Warner died from the effects of the venom after his pulse and temperature shot up beyond what could support human life, lasting longer than most of the other infected victims.
