The "Visitors" were gaunt humanoids who sailed skyships that resembled Earth sailing ships, much like Voyager's death-ship.

Poor devil

The "poor devil" found frozen at the wheel of his ship by the Sixth Doctor. (COMIC: Voyager)

Shortly after having a dream in which he found himself on Voyager's death-ship, the Sixth Doctor found himself in a frozen wasteland which he initially believed to be one of the arctic regions of Earth but was actually a wasteland at the impossible edge of the universe. There, he and Frobisher happened upon a ship frozen in the ice. A humanoid, dead but frozen in an upright position by the cold, stood at the steering wheel. In the control room, which the Doctor noted felt somehow like an ancient counterpart to a TARDIS control room, the Doctor found strange star-charts which Astrolabus soon took back from him at gunpoint.

Astrolabus later claimed that the ship had belonged to the "Visitors" who had appeared in ancient Alexandria on the day of a planetary conjunction and had traded great scientific knowledge for the charts, which were records of the occult and sorcerous lore maintaned by the royal astrologer. The astrologer, he claimed, had been Astrolabus himself, who was thus recovering his rightful property.

However, though he never found out more about the ship's crew's identity, the Doctor later discovered that Astrolabus was in actuality a renegade Time Lord, and that the charts in his possession had been stolen from the Lord of Life Voyager. (COMIC: Voyager)
