The Universal Machine, called UniMac for short, was the embodiment of all tools created throughout human history. It was capable of reaching through time perceiving, recording, and copying any machine ever built by humans. It was one of the Secret Architects that built the City of the Saved.

The Universal Machine was nearly manifested on Earth in the 21st century, (PROSE: Of the City of the Saved...) but intervention of War-time powers ruined the attempt. (PROSE: This Town Will Never Let Us Go) It was finally successfully manifested by Mesh Cos more than 300 billion years later. (PROSE: Of the City of the Saved...)

The Universal Machine was created to preserve humanity from the crossfire of the War in Heaven and the Great Houses. To create this, Mesh Cos stowed away on a timeship of the Great Houses, and came to their stronghold, the Houseworld. Utilizing the expertise of history's most skilled thieves, she pilfered the knowledge and technology needed to forge the machine. However, her actions drew the attention of the Great Houses, who set their sights on her. Their time engines struck her enclave with devastating force, obliterating everyone. However in the end, they were able to create the Universal Machine, humanity's ultimate masterpiece.

Appearance[]

One form of the Universal Machine manifested as a retro-futuristic pseudo-mainframe. It was an archaic contraption crafted from radio equipment, brimming with an array of valves, wires, and sockets that pulsed with electricity. Its surface was covered with needle dials, blinking lights, spinning reels, and magnetic tape, that spun and whirled. It can also transform into a more sophisticated form, such as a holographic projection emanating from its mainframe.

Personality[]

UniMac has a grounded and approachable personality. Despite its immense power, age, and significance, it dedicates itself to aiding mistreated artificial lifeforms and disillusioned organics throughout the City of the Saved and offers them new opportunities for a better life. UniMac engages in playful banter with people but never exploits its power or knowledge for personal gain. It deeply respects an individual’s autonomy and considers the manipulation of minds both unethical and contrary to its core principles.
