Ugly animal (COMIC: Kingdom of the Animals)
The ugly animal was of a cat-like species native to an unnamed planet. It antagonised John, who quickly scared it off. Later, after John and Gillian had been captured by giant birds, it and the First Doctor rescued them. After this, John decided never to be unkind to animals again. (COMIC: Kingdom of the Animals)
