The UNIT website was the website of UNIT, (PROSE: Hoax This! [+]BBC webteam, Who is Doctor Who? (BBC, 2005).) being active since at least 2005. (PROSE: UNIT History: Fighting the unknown [+]BBC webteam, U.N.I.T. (BBC, 2005).) It had private operations held on the site — such as a "bulletin board" — despite the website itself being accessible to the public. Its url was www.unit.org.uk. (PROSE: Hoax This! [+]BBC webteam, Who is Doctor Who? (BBC, 2005).)

Contents[]

The UNIT website contained pages on the history of the organisation, (PROSE: UNIT History: Fighting the unknown [+]BBC webteam, U.N.I.T. History[]

On 7 March, Mickey Smith accessed the secure section of the website, with the password of "buffalo", to fire a missile at 10 Downing Street to stop the Slitheen from destroying planet Earth. (TV: World War Three [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who series 1 (BBC One, 2005).) He later shared this password — along with another — to the readers of his website, advising them to use them quickly before UNIT changed them. (PROSE: Hoax This! [+]BBC webteam, Who is Doctor Who? (BBC, 2005).)

Soon after, Sergeant Catherine Petts submitted a dossier on Rose Tyler in 2006 — also referencing Mickey's acquisition of whoisdoctorwho.co.uk which contained sensitive, classified information — causing Sergeant J Frinkstein to change the passwords to the secure parts of the website, and while Major Jenny Maguire suggested leaving the passwords be and simply insert misinformation instead, Sergeant A. Frederick seemingly rejected the idea, as she already had more than enough work to do. (PROSE: Rose Tyler [+]BBC webteam, U.N.I.T. (BBC, 2005).)

Shortly before the Sycorax invasion of Earth, Mickey accessed the website again and saw the military was tracking the Sycorax spaceship headed for Earth. Later, Mickey and Rose Tyler watched a video message from the Sycorax on the website. Rose noticed the TARDIS wasn't translating their Sycoraxic speech like it usually did for alien languages. (TV: The Christmas Invasion [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas special (BBC One, 2005).)

Frederick. (PROSE: UNIT's Position on The London Incident [+]BBC webteam, U.N.I.T. (BBC, 2005).)
