The First Doctor, Barbara Wright, Ian Chesterton and Susan visited Tyre in 814 BC, where they met Elissa of Tyre (later known as Dido) and her brother King Pygmalion. They soon left for Kition with Elissa, and eventually Tunisia, where Elissa would soon found Carthage. (AUDIO: The Phoenicians)

Tyre was involved in the Crusades. Moses of Tyre's wife was killed during the Crusades; (AUDIO: The Green Man) in the 1190s, Luigi Ferrigo claimed that Conrad of Tyre sent an emissary to make peace with Saladin. He claimed to have come "on his heels". (TV: The Crusade) Moses of Tyre was a native of Tyre who, although of Jewish origins, joined the Knights Templar.
