Turkey was a country in west Asia and east Europe.

Geography[]

The city of Istanbul was in Turkey. (PROSE: Shadowmind) Turkey had access to Mediterranean Sea. (PROSE: The Stone House)

The Eastern Roman Empire was located where Turkey later was. (PROSE: Shadowmind) The city of Byzantium (later named Constantinople, then Istanbul) marked the gateway between Europe and Asia. (PROSE: Byzantium!)

Early history[]

In the 1st century, the city of Byzantium was located in Thrace, but this region would later become a part of Turkey. During this time, the region was more heavily influenced by the Greeks and Macedonians, while remaining under the rule of the Roman Empire. (PROSE: Byzantium!)

19th century[]

Ace considered the Ottoman Empire, an Empire present at least in the 19th century, to be synonymous with Turkey. (AUDIO: The Angel of Scutari)

During the 19th century, Theodore Maxtible travelled to European Turkey to learn more about the area, following preliminary talks of his financing a railway line through the Bosphorus region. 20th century[]

Turkey did not get involved in World War II. However, they also operated agents in occupied territories. One of their male agents in Paris in a misguided attempt to blend in adopted the alias Chanel Parfum. (PROSE: The Turing Test)

In 2003, Bernice Summerfield and Jason Kane went to Turkey on separate archaeological expeditions to find Noah's Ark. (PROSE: Eternity Weeps)

President Felix Mather and Anji Kapoor may once have flown over Eastern Turkey in a Concorde, but they couldn't be certain since they didn't have a working GPS device and their pilots refused to tell them where they were. (PROSE: Trading Futures)
