KARI: The Big Bang?
DOCTOR: There's going to be a very big bang. Big Bang Two.

Billions of years BCEdit

DOCTOR: About six billion years ago. It's a Tuesday, I think.
NOTE: Despite the Tenth Doctor seeing the formation of the Earth c. 4.6 billion BC, the Eleventh Doctor visited a molten Earth billions of years earlier.
DOCTOR: We've gone back four point six billion years. There's no solar system, not yet. Only dust and rocks and gas. That's the Sun, over there. Brand new. Just beginning to burn.

Hundreds of millions of years BCEdit

TANCREDI: Four hundred million years I think is the figure you're looking for.
DOCTOR: Some a hundred and forty million years ago.

Tens of millions of years BCEdit

PrehistoryEdit

NOTE: 100,000 BC was a working title.

3rd millennium BCEdit

DOCTOR: Well, yes, the pyramids are the seventh wonder of this ancient world, I should say the word impressive is rather an understatement.
PROSE Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe: "This earliest recorded appearance of the Daleks on Earth was during the height of the Ancient Egyptian Middle Kingdom (approximately 2200 BC), when, in pursuit of the Doctor, they arrived in their time ship in the vicinity of the Great Pyramids at Giza."

AD yearsEdit

1st centuryEdit

GRAY: I want you to suffer. I want your life. This is Cardiff, 27 AD.
DOCTOR: Yes. Caesar Nero made it. The rebuilding of Rome. Let me see, where are we now? 64 AD, July. Yes, of course. He sets fire to Rome.
DOCTOR: It's 79 AD, twenty third of August, which makes volcano day tomorrow.
TEXT: Six months later

2nd centuryEdit

DOCTOR: Just followed the coordinates on the cliff face. Earth. Britain. One oh two am. No, PM. No, AD.
BILL: Aberdeen, Scotland, second century AD.
NOTE: Real world year.

9th centuryEdit

DOCTOR: You know, I've been to Belgium. Yeah. I remember I was deep in the Ardennes, trying to find Charlemagne. He'd been kidnapped by an insane computer.
ASHILDR (The Woman Who Lived): I've had eight hundred years of adventure, enough to fill a library if you write it down.
MITCH: We reckon 9th or 10th century. Part of our funding came from a group who think it could be Alfred The Great...

11th centuryEdit

DOCTOR: Now, if Harold is king, and Edward was laid to rest at the beginning of the year, then it must be 1066! Yes. Judging by the appearance of these leaves, late summer. And a balmy night, a balmy night.

12th centuryEdit

‘We can’t possibly go to King Richard wearing clothes like these. We are on Earth at the time of the Third Crusade, my boy, in Palestine; some time between A.D. 1190 and 1192. We must find wearing apparel suitable to the time and place.’
NOTE: From the novelisation
DOCTOR: No, no. Time of year? What season?

DOCTOR: It's 1190.

DOCTOR: It's 1207.
DOCTOR: March the fourth, 1215.

BARBARA: He must have died around 1430, I should think.
DOCTOR: We've landed on Earth. Glass technology indicates Mediterranean area. Late fifteenth century. Not a very pleasant time.

16th centuryEdit

DOCTOR: The original, I presume? Completed in 1503 and it's now what, 1505, and you're getting the old boy to do you another six, yes, which you then brick up in a cellar in Paris for Scarlioni to find in four hundred and seventy four time.
DOCTOR: England, 1562.
ANNE: Date, Monsieur? August the twenty-third as
DOCTOR: Yes, yes, yes, I know that. The year, the year, hmm?
ANNE: Fifteen seventy two, Monsieur. But surely you know that?
DOCTOR: Ah, you got to love Venice. So many people did. Byron, Napoleon, Casanova. Ooo, that reminds me. 1580. That's all right. Casanova doesn't get born for a hundred and forty-five years. Don't want to run into him. I owe him a chicken.
DOCTOR: I think so. 'Round about 1599.

17th centuryEdit

DOCTOR: It's a witch trial. Must be early 17th century.
BECKA: As King James has written in his new Bible, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." [Published in 1611.]
DOCTOR: Well, in strictly linear terms, as the chronometer flies, I've known since November the twenty-third, 1638.
DOCTOR: Oh, no, this isn't a visit, I've got a job to do. I'm here looking for an alien object which has no business being here on Earth in 1651.
DOCTOR: Yes, I'm afraid you're going to lose your bet, young man. That gentleman comes from the seventeenth century.
KING CHARLES II: Where's the Doctor?
The Great Fire of London.
AVERY: April the first, 1699.

LOUIS: Leaving Versailles for the last time. Only forty-three when she died. Too young. Too young. Illness took her in the end. She always did work too hard. What does she say?
ROBESPIERRE: But can I trust them? If this motion gets underway, they will turn against me to save their own necks. Mark my words, LeMaitre. If this plot is successful, tomorrow, the 27th of July 1794, will be a date for history.

TOSH (Exit Wounds): Your second week, I had to cover for you. Pretend I was a medic, because you were hungover and unreachable.
OWEN (Exit Wounds): What was it, Space Pig?
DOCTOR: It's not twelve hours, it's twelve months. You've been gone a whole year. Sorry.

ELTON: And that's when it all changed, that Tuesday night in March. That's when he arrived.
KATHY: To take one breath in 2007 and the next in 1920 is a strange way to start a new life, but a new life is exactly what I've always wanted.
JACKIE: Oh. That was about two months ago. Just happened. Woke up one morning, and there they all were. Ghosts, everywhere.
At a World War I memorial
DIANE: Today, December the 18th.
GWEN: Merry Christmas!
DONNA: Well, duh. Maybe not on Mars, but here it's Christmas Eve. Phone box! We can reverse the charges!

The Power of Three dating controversyEdit
All 21st century stories featuring the Amy and Rory Pond after The God Complex should be placed here. See The Power of Three dating controversy.
The Doctor gives Amy Pond and Rory Williams a new house. A common theory to explain this dating controversy is that the Doctor dropped Amy and Rory off a few years in the past, but Amy is a famous model in 2011 would certainly draw the attention of their families and their past selves.
RIVER: I just climbed out of the Byzantium. You were there. So young. Didn't have a clue who I was. You're funny like that. Where are you?
AMY: The Doctor's dead.
NOTE: Amy is now a famous model for Petichor, implying this story is set after The God Complex. However, the Colchester Evening News is dated 19th April 2011. That date is problematic because Amy and Rory would need to be in Utah in only a few days, Amy is unfamiliar with the word petrichor in The Doctor's Wife, and Alfie is rather old given Craig and Sofie started their relationship in 2010.
DOCTOR: Not absolutely sure how long...
AMY: Two years?
Amy and Rory have a fight.
Amy and Rory are planning on a divorce.
AMY: Alright, where are we? What is that noise and hello, ten months?
NOTE: Supposedly Kate Stewart's first meeting with the Doctor.
AMY: She's here tonight, being as it's our wedding anniversary. We thought you might have dropped by. I left you messages.
BRIAN: Brian's log, day three hundred and sixty-one. Eight-fifty pm. No movement. And I am cream crackered.
2010s (cont'd)Edit
DOCTOR: Well, tried that, if you've noticed, and we are back where we started in 2012.
NOTE: Despite recent episodes, the Ponds are in 2012. Granted, they are time travellers and have little risk of meeting their past selves while in New York City.
HUW EDWARDS: We're live on News 24. The opening ceremony of the London Olympics of 2012 is well underway, and people from all over the world are streaming into the stadium right now.
ROSE: And when are we?
DOCTOR: Two thousand and twelve.
VAN STATTEN: So, the next President. What do you think? Republican or Democrat?
VASTRA: Assuming this letter will have reached you as planned, on April the tenth, 2013.
CLARA: I need you. I'm cooking Christmas dinner!
STRAX (Deep Breath): Ah, excellent. Enviable spleen. Well done. Twenty seven years old, with a projected lifespan of exactly—
NOTE: Clara was born 23 Novemeber 1986, making her 27 in 2013.
NOTE: Ending scene
DOCTOR: You sent me for coffee.
CLARA: Three weeks ago. In Glasgow.
DOCTOR: A tree is a time machine. You plant a little acorn in 1795, and in the year 2016, there's an oak tree, there, in the same spot, with a tiny little bit of 1795 still alive inside of it.
NOTE: With Christmas in Last Christmas and Clara's death before October 2016 it would be impossible for this story to be in 2016. 2016 must be an arbitrary date like 1795.
DOCTOR: Merry Christmas, Clara Oswald.
NORLANDER: The Brits came two years ago. We didn't want them. They just They just turned up. No jobs. Nowhere to live. No money. And they were, they were odd. They started getting into fights. Couple of them got killed.
Clara Oswald is listed on the Coal Hill School Roll of Honours Board by 27 October 2016. (TV: For Tonight We Might Die)
Kevin Williams' missing poster confirms he was last seen on the 12th. The poster at the start dates the prom to 14 October.
VARUN: Rachel's only been gone a week.
NOTE: We see on Charlie's computer that the day of the confrontation with Coach Dawson is a Thursday. This story takes place over 4 distinct and consecutive days, so it must begin on Monday. Exactly a week after Prom would be Friday 21 October. Three days later is 24 October, the only Monday on which Varun would say it's been a week since Prom.
RAM: That's not even the third weirdest thing I have seen this month.
NOTE: We see on Ram's computer that the day is a Thursday. This means the only time the episode could take place is the Thursday after the conclusion of The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo. At around the midpoint of the episode, we see the time on Ram's phone is close to midnight meaning that the end of the episode ran into Friday morning.
RAM: I've been frightened non-stop for the last month.
CHARLIE: It's been almost a week. She hasn't even woken.
DOCTOR: Grant, how long have you known this woman?
GRANT: Since elementary school. Twenty four years.

DOCTOR: Well, you should talk to your mates at GCHQ! [Reference to the events of Resolution]
DOCTOR (1834): 186 years from now, they're assassinating spies, and I'm stuck here without my TARDIS, and I need to find my way back before...

DOCTOR: Blue grass. Patches of it all around the graveyard. So, Earth, 2020-ish, ten years in your future, wrong continent for Rio, I'll admit, but it's not a massive overshoot.
2040sEdit
DOCTOR: And it does all that because one day in the year 2049, when it had stopped thinking about going to the stars, something occurred that make it look up, not down.
2050sEdit
RANI: When you're on your own, you tend to forget things. People, places. I don't even know what year it is.
ADAM: It's 2059, Ms Chandra.

DOCTOR: You're not a monastery, you're a factory. Twenty-second century army-owned factory.
DOCTOR: Paradise Towers is supposed to be a remarkable architectural achievement, I'm told. Won all sorts of awards way back in the er, twenty-first century. Are you ready?
