The Why Knot was a planned Eighth Doctor Adventures novel by Jonathan Blum, pitched in late 1999 or early 2000.[1] It would have featured Daniel Joyce,[2] albeit under another pseudonym, and revealed more about his place in the series plotline. It also would have featured Saldaamir. However, after several synopsis-drafts, range editor Justin Richards rejected the story.[3]
In 2009, Blum suggested that he was thinking of writing The Why Knot as an original novel.[4]
