The War Between the Land and the Sea was a five-episode spin-off series of Doctor Who. It aired on BBC One from 7 December to 21 December 2025, and was streamed on Disney+ internationally in 2026.[1] It introduced the term 'Homo Aqua' to describe the Sea Devils.
The mini-series was primarily written by Russell T Davies and Pete McTighe, and follows a conflict between humans and Homo Aqua, with Kate Stewart's UNIT at the centre. It marks the return of Austin Pierce, played by Colin McFarlane, who was last seen in Torchwood's Children of Earth: Day Five in 2009.
