The original concept for this story would have it set in the 1660s, and feature the Master as a manipulative Witchfinder General, rather than a priest. This was vetoed by BBC Wales, who had a television story planned for series 11, appropriately titled The Witchfinders. The rest of the box set would likely have continued in this historical setting.
