Notes[]
- The idea of the actor who portrayed the Doctor writing a story actually proceeded with Colin Baker constantly contributing to DWU short stories.
- The idea of William Hartnell playing two roles was actually used in The Massacre in which he played the Abbot of Amboise, though he was not a villain nor a relative. The idea was reused in the villain capacity in The Enemy of the World in which Patrick Troughton played both the Second Doctor and dictator Ramón Salamander.
- A son of the Doctor would appear as Susan Foreman's father in the novel Cold Fusion. Incidentally, this character would be portrayed by Fifth Doctor actor Peter Davison in the audio adaptation.
