The Schizoid Earth was the second novel in the Lethbridge-Stewart series, released by Candy Jar Books in 2015.

Publisher's summary[]

Lethbridge-Stewart was supposed to be in the mountains of the east, but things didn't quite go according to plan. On the eve of war, something appeared in the sky; a presence that blotted out the moon. Now it has returned, and no battle plan can survive first contact with this enemy.

Why do the ghosts of fallen soldiers still fight long-forgotten battles against living men? What is the secret of the rural English town of Deepdene? Lethbridge-Stewart has good reason to doubt his own sanity, but is he suffering illness or injury, or is something more sinister going on?

Plagued by nightmares of being trapped in a past that never happened, Lethbridge-Stewart must unravel the mystery of a man ten years out of his time; a man who cannot possibly still exist.

The Schizoid Earth audiobook

Audiobook cover.

  • This book contains a foreward by Amanda Haisman.
  • The "Russian scientist" who helps Anne and Edward Travers David A. McIntee's own creation "Koschei", using a variant spelling of the alias. Interestingly, his description as a "stocky man, with a short dark beard that was peppered with grey", and as already being an acquaintance of Alistair's, suggests that this is Koschei at some point after the events of The Dark Path — that is, after he became the Master. However, because the book only had McIntee's license to work with, the character's more famous aspect as the villainous Master could not be used.
  • This book replaced Horror of Det-Sen as the second book in the series.
