The Deadly Mutant	The Secret Star Trail

The Mutant Turnip was a Doctor Who Adventures comic strip published in 2011.

Summary

Alain and Simone fret over their non-existent wheat crop. They had a fine crop the previous year which had even poorer weather. The Doctor is investigating underground and bursts to the surface. He has been using his sonic screwdriver to trick what is below the soil into rising to the surface, but all that happens is large roots break through and, too strong for the Doctor (or Alain) drag the Doctor underground.

Amy Pond and Rory Williams race to the commotion. They explain the Doctor has been trying to shrink an alien bulb draining the nutrients from the soil. Simone runs back to the house to fetch Michel's wine, wh. It is horrible to drink and seems to kill any plant it touches.

The wine works instantly. The roots retreat and the bulb shrinks to a more portable size — not dead but poorly, the Doctor takes the bulb away to somewhere out of the way.

The sonic screwdriver is used to cause vibrations in the soil in an attempt to bring the bulb to the surface.

Notes

The Doctor makes an appearance from underground but presumably missed the Bulb, being surprised by its appearance later on.
This is the second comic strip in a row to feature the word "Mutant" in the title.
