The Mandela Effect, Or Monsters on the Streets of London was a short story in the Into The Unknown series.

Summary[]

Plot[]

Professor Grey explains the Mandela Effect, whereby people can have memories of events which differ from recorded reality. He believes one possible explanation is that time is rewritten.

Professor Grey explains that since taking over Into The Unknown he has looked into this phenomena and been surprised by people’s vivid memories of aliens. He cites Douglas, who recalls “metal men” outside St Paul’s Cathedral in the late 1960s, and claims he’s interviewed younger people who recall a similar incident in 2014. Professor Grey cites Elaine, who recalls a spaceship over London during Christmas 2006 which was shot down by the government, despite there being no records of such an incident. Finally he explains the writings of Doctor RV Singh who claimed to have witnessed Winston Churchill’s Ironsides and a Spitfire modified for spaceflight. Professor Grey invites readers to share any memories they may have of invasions or bizarre occurrences.

In the comments, Josh recalls shop dummies coming to life and gunning people down in 2005 and claims his father can remember a similar incident from the 1970s, DM asks if anyone else remembers cubes turning up everywhere and GH remembers the “metal men” being around the globe and a confrontation with them, including them warring with another race, that the media termed the Battle of Canary Wharf.
