The Maldovarium Trading Post, better known as the Maldovarium and also known as the Maldovar Market and Maldovar's, was a market settlement in the 52nd century. It was located beneath a space-time rift, known as Geryon's Eye, and atop a planetoid.

The Maldovarium had a bar (TV: The Pandorica Opens, etc.) and several salons and cafés. Dorium Maldovar's quarters were located in the inner hub. (AUDIO: The Light Keepers)

Establishment[]

Dorium Maldovar established the Maldovarium after the War Doctor suggested that he open a bar and serve banana daiquris. (COMIC: The Whole Thing's Bananas) He found the mirror containing the Light Queen beneath the building and kept it in his quarters, unaware of its true nature. (AUDIO: The Light Keepers)

30th-52nd century[]

In the 30th century, Nathan Hobb purchased a Magnetic Quantum Field Generator for The Best Before from the Maldovar Market. (AUDIO: Backtrack)

Having stolen Dalekanium-eating Vashta Nerada from Synthesis Station, Dendry planned to sip cocktails with his buyer at the Maldovarium only to be devoured by the Vashta Nerada before he could make his appointment. (AUDIO: Day of the Vashta Nerada)

The Eleventh Doctor once visited the Maldovarium and ordered two pots of the finest oolong tea and three dozen fruit scones as he was "borderline hangry". However, he neglected to pay his 12 credit bill before he left, angering Dorium. (AUDIO: The Light Keepers)

In 5145, Dorium acquired a vortex manipulator for River Song and gave it to her in exchange for a Callisto Pulse to disarm the micro-explosives that she had put in his wine. (TV: The Pandorica Opens)

The Eleventh Doctor crashed into the Maldovarium in his TARDIS, causing extensive damage and leaving him in Dorium's debt. To pay it, he assisted Dorium in resolving the issue of the Light Keepers, in the course of which he inadvertently caused a Lumen to topple into the building. The Ravenous placed a bounty at the Maldovarium, demanding that Time Lords be brought to the Ravenous' prison dimension. Acting on this, the Nightstalker went to 1963 Shoreditch and attempted to kidnap the First Doctor and Susan Foreman. River also saw the bounty and followed him to Shoreditch. Colony Sarff went to the Maldovarium as they searched for the Twelfth Doctor, but were unable to find him. (TV: The Magician's Apprentice)

Dorium acquired a Judoon's brain for the Order of the Headless and asked them if they were mad to have angered the Doctor by planning to imprison Melody Pond. (WC: Brain Trafficking)

Dorium's departure[]

After the Eleventh Doctor learnt that Madame Kovarian had kidnapped Amy Pond, Dorium decided to close the Maldovarium and run to watch the conflict between the Doctor and the Kovarian Chapter from afar, pitying those whose debts the Doctor would call them to repay. The Doctor arrived to enlist his help after Madame Kovarian and Colonel Manton left. (TV: A Good Man Goes to War)

In Dorium's absence following his beheading (TV: A Good Man Goes to War, The Wedding of River Song) Agrakos, Kiz and Vertebrae Rax robbed the Maldovarium with the help of the Nestene Consciousness. (PROSE: The Heist)

Personnel[]

The proprietor of the Maldovarium was Dorium Maldovar, (TV: The Pandorica Opens) who hired Mervyn as his barhand and, later, Plume as his deputy. (AUDIO: The Light Keepers) Dorium also employed an Ood.
