- The title is a reference to the 1950 novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis.
- This story marks the first official appearance of the Thirteenth Doctor after her post-regeneration scene in Twice Upon a Time, as well as her debut appearance outside of television.
