Worldbuilding[]

  • According to official story, the real Dimitry Ivanovich died having a fit while playing with his knives. It is widely believed that he was murdered, and it is true, according to Oksana.
  • Saint Basil's Cathedral is mentioned.
  • The Doctor describes the future Tsar Vasili as a "good man".
  • The Doctor says that not all Russian leaders are good, and that he would like to check up on some of them.

Notes[]

  • The short reign of False Dmitriy as Tsar of All Rus spanned a year in real history, but in the audio story it takes place within a few days. The writer Sarah Grochala commented about this, saying she had to squeeze many events of 1605 into a short period of time for the story to work. (BFX: The False Dimitry)
  • Marina is used as the assumed name for Grishka's mute wife, this is a nod to a similarly mute women from another civilisation in the Gerry Anderson production Stingray
