The Cult of Skaro was the apparent title of the fifth and final prose story in Doctor Who The Official Annual 2016. Presented as having been written by the Twelfth Doctor to announce his book, it served as an advertisement for then then-upcoming novel The Dangerous Book of Monsters.
Summary[]
The Twelfth Doctor has written a book to educate aspiring heroes about monsters. In the interest of getting "literate humans" to take an interest in the book, he publishes an extract in advance of the official release, being his personal illustrated notes on the Cult of Skaro.
Characters[]
Worldbuilding[]
- The Twelfth Doctor's book on monsters is available "in all good bookstores across the universe", "even on Raxacoricofallapatorius".
- The Cult of Skaro was founded by the Dalek Emperor.
- The Doctor states of the Cult, "I thought they were a myth — we all did".
Notes[]
- It is possible, although not quite explicit, that this story is meant to be part of the same framing device as PROSE: I'm The Doctor! earlier in the 2016 Annual, as, like it, it is presented as a handwritten post-it note.
