Tarot was a type of fortune-telling performed with a special deck of cards, each card holding a meaning. These included:
- The Queen of Cups
- The Fool
- The Hanged Man, signifying someone who would cause trouble
- The Tower, usually struck by lightning, signifying death and destruction

- The Emperor

Some packs of tarot had Coins instead of Pentacles. (PROSE: Invasion of the Cat-People)
When Jack Harkness searched for the second resurrection gauntlet, a little girl who was reading tarot cards told him where to find it, later revealing the grim reaper/death card just as Jack was leaving. (TV: Dead Man Walking)
