Too many images?

As of time of writing this, the page contains a total of 520 jpg + 14 .png files (which equals a total of almost 550 files). With the entirety of the "Moffat era" and "Chibnall era" still marked as to be added, it's more than safe to assume this page'll get to the mark of at least 800 files.

Aside from the fact that (if I'm not mistaken) there's a policy that disallows too many pictures on a single page, I fail to see why lots of the pictures present here are relevant. Check this section for example: they bring nothing informative at all; they are just 10 seemingly duplicates of a red pattern.

Also this section. At the "thumb" size the gallery is displayed, all 190 files look the same to me: a blue-ish pattern, with an image on the top which is not differentiable from the other 189.

At least these galleries are no longer on the main article, and I'm fairly sure the DW website since 2010 has not had so many graphics. That said, I definitely agree there need to be some parameters set, at least in terms of relevance, as many of these do indeed look virtually identical at thumbnail size.

Some of these, like the classic series story images, desperately need cropping to focus on the actual images up top, and Website background images 3 is interesting up close, for sure, but at the current size I really do think just one example, maybe two, would suffice. For series 3, there's two different versions of the same Confidential image, with one added detail. There are certainly some instances of redundancy where the number of images can be cut down.
