Kapow 2012[]
I gather this was a comics convention in London. If I'm reading the note correctly, there were some Doctor Who-related skits performed there. Is this really noteworthy? There have been skits at every Gallifrey convention for the past 20 years. —Josiah Rowe talk to me 03:10, June 25, 2012 (UTC)
- The note on the page says it was a play. Which suggests some form to it, that's it's been written, rehearsed etc so it'd be a deliberate sort of thing. While a skit is much more short form and maybe improvised.
- It's a fuzzy line between them I know.
- Looking at it another way, all the parodies listed are either straight comedy parodies or cultural/textual parodies bringing DW into their own universe to parody it.
- In the latter as the play is called Whose Story is it Anyway? would suggest it's a parody or reference of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, so then it would be as noteworthy as any of the others listed here.
- Though as I've demonstrated that's a few logic jumps to make, as I've not seen the play I can't make anymore of a judgement than that. --Tangerineduel / talk 13:58, June 30, 2012 (UTC)
Potential new evidence for The LEGO Batman Movie being licensed from DWM[]
I don't know if this information was already known, but on page 38 of DWM 564 in a feature on references to Doctor Who in American media, there is a short section on The LEGO Batman Movie (entry 14). This states that rights were granted and that the fact no direct reference was made to the Daleks was for comedic purposes. Doctor Who Magazine is generally very reliable and well researched as far as I can tell. However, this article was written by a one-off contributor and so may not have been checked as rigorously. I thought I would bring this up in case it helps to decide this as being licensed. Bongo50 (aka Bongolium500) ☎ 18:17, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
- Ohoh. DWM is definitely a reliable source for these things. But we'll have to hold off on validating (or otherwise giving greater coverage to) this movie until we can have a proper Forum thread on the subject. T:BOUND and all that. Even when we're very, very, very sure we're going to do something in the future, that doesn't mean we can start doing it before the decision has been officially taken (see splitting the Master incarnations.) - Ok, great. I eagerly await the forums for even more things now. Bongo50 (aka Bongolium500) ☎ 19:39, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
- Are we still waiting for forums to return? I certainly haven't seen any recent activity on them. Cookieboy 2005 ☎ 16:34, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- Yup. Still waiting for @CzechOut to fulfil his promise, though I don't have my hopes up. 16:39, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
