The "Clockwise Man" content doesn't belong here as these are completely different creations than that featured in Girl in the Fireplace. Having not yet read the novel, I can't do more than just try and clean up (and convert to in-universe) the material added already. 23skidoo 21:58, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

I'm inclined to agree. Should this page be disambiguated? -- Tybort(talk page) 19:20, August 11, 2012 (UTC)
Late to the party, but glad we all agree. So I'm reading the novel and planning to do the following. The Clockwise Man robots are given a name: Mechanicals. I plan to create a page for them under Clockwork Mechanicals and move all the stuff from the novel there. As for the disambiguation, I want to create a higher-level page called Clockwork robot describing the technology. Then Clockwork Droids and Clockwork Mechanicals will be types of Clockwork robots on their pages with a link to the robot page. Amorkuz 23:24, December 10, 2016 (UTC)
Good idea. I support this. But: don't forget that species/robot titles always take singular form. So Clockwork Mechanical and not Clockwork Mechanicals.

Actually, I stand corrected, apparently, the disambiguation page was already created at Clockwork. So no Clockwork Robot page is needed. It is currently used as a redirect to Clockwork Droid, but this is, methinks, incorrect: Mechanicals are clockwork robots but not clockwork droids (developed by a different civilisation in fact). "Clockwork Robot" should either redirect to "Clockwork" or be deleted. (And yes, I should have typed Clockwork Mechanical). Amorkuz 00:52, December 11, 2016 (UTC)
Personally, I'd say clockwork robot is still needed. (And yes, that shouldn't redirect. Now deleted; only link was on The Clockwise Man, funnily enough.) Clockwork is about the type of technology in general; clockwork robot would describe a class of robots with clockwork technology. Well, when I say needed, I mean nice to have: we could still adequately disambiguate at clockwork.

Apparently, we've had clockwork robots as far back as The Mind Robber.

I plan to do a link sweep, but don't have time at the moment. So, barring objections within the next 12 hours or so, I will create a clockwork robot page leaving only technology description and disambiguation at "Clockwork". Amorkuz 08:43, December 11, 2016 (UTC)
Awesome. Take your time. Live life. I look forward to reading it whenever it should come up.

Steampunk[]

The Clockwork Droids could belong to the Steampunk genre. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Go-On Red (talk • contribs) .

More clockworks[]

I just realised how brilliant an idea it was to separate clockwork technology from clockwork robots. The Doctor was always fascinated by the former. And there have been oh so many big important pieces of this technology across the years. I'll invite everyone to edit via the Panopticon, but also have some pretty nice examples myself. Stay tuned.
