Sources!

Okay, seriously, if you add info to this article, add a reference backing up whatever you're adding. Especially if you're gonna add something as confusing as "David Tennant has stated he will stay until 2011, but this may not be true." Thank you. LostRaccoon 14:01, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

On a similar note, just because you can source something, doesn't mean it should necessarily be in the article. The following was the last statement in the lead of this article:
Tennant is currently in negotiations which may see him staying as the Doctor until 2011. Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many
That's absolutely irrelevant to the topic of the 2009 specials. He has repeatedly said he's going to be in all of the specials, which is the only thing this article should address. If you want to move the statement over to the Series 5 article, I've preserved it here for an easy cut and paste. Also, it might be of some use for a potential Series 6 page, in case we want to track the long process of casting the Doctor in that series. CzechOut | 16:25, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I didn't add that info to this article. I just reformated what the user before me added to be actually informative. Being sort of new to this wikia, I'm uncomfortable deciding to delete info others add, but I did know that if it was going to be in the article at all, it ought to be in the lead paragraph which discussed Tennant's involvement, and needed to be sourced. LostRaccoon 23:09, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
And obviously the report turned out to be false, anyway. 23skidoo 16:26, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
So why is it okay to have speculation on who will replace Tennant in this article if speculation on how long Tennant was staying wasn’t okay? I'm not trying to be argumentative, I genuinely am trying to understand how you decide what’s relevant and what’s not. LostRaccoon 23:31, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Suggest renaming the article

We're now seeing reports that the last special is actually being aired in 2010. Should this article, therefore, be renamed 2009-2010 Specials? 23skidoo 16:26, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

I'd say wait until we get told officially when the last special will be, before we change the name. Jack's the man - 20:18, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

2008 Christmas Special Content

(possible SPOILERS) Should content from the 2008 Christmas Special be included here? It does really play around with the question of whether David Morrissey's character is the next doctor or not. I would be tempted to add "though the 2008 Christmas special suggests he will not be the next Doctor" to the David Morrissey mention, but am not sure if it would be too much of a spoiler for this page. Anyways, up to you all to decide. 68.39.217.127 07:17, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

River Song?

Since David Tennant is leaving the series (and presumably the Tenth Doctor is leaving with him), isn't it likely that River will be re-appearing in the specials as she recognizes the Tenth Doctor? If anything will she see him regenerate; which also seems likely given her knowledge of it in Forest of the Dead. - Bluesilver 16:25, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

  • She is not the only one. Elizabeth I also recognized the Tenth Doctor (her "sworn enemy" ) ... 82.120.245.38 22:25, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
  • The Tenth Doctor has had numerous periods in which he could have been traveling alone: between The Runaway Bride and Smith and Jones, between Voyage of the Damned and Partners in Crime, and both before and after The Next Doctor. Any of those but the first gap could be his encounter with Elizabeth I, and he could have met River Song before or after The Next Doctor. There's a lot of wiggle room there, so I don't think it's a foregone conclusion we'll see River again. Not that I'd complain if we did... Monkey with a Gun 01:08, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

The Next Doctor

I removed info on it from this page because it is part of the 2008 season-season four-and not part of the 2009 specials. I also rewrote the start to make sense. Wikipedia and other sources list it as part of the fourth season. Plus, it was filmed alongside season four and not with the specials. So I would say these don't include it.--Golden Monkey 22:25, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

  • I'm sorry, it has to be included. There are simply too many factors to suggest that it's one of the Specials, including the fact the BBC could be accused of false advertising for issuing a "Complete Fourth Season" DVD set without it. Seriously. There are arguments on both sides of this issue, and therefore until someone makes a definitive statement -- and Wikipedia should never be used as a source; basically we need the BBC or RTD himself come out and say it (and his book could be referring to the fact it was the 14th episode produced, not necessarily 14th episode of the season) -- The Next Doctor needs to be included. Precedents: Terror of the Zygons, which is not considered part of the season in which it was produced; similarly several episodes of Star Trek Voyager's 2nd season were produced during its first and held over, but they're never considered 1st season episodes. 23skidoo 16:25, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

What we know about special 2 from the pictures of the shooting

(possible SPOILERS)

  • It is in winter
  • Part of it takes place on a future or alternate Earth where the yen (¥) is used as a currency in Britain
  • The doctor is wearing his blue suit
  • There is a Ood
  • There is a new kind of caterpillared robot
  • In addition to Adelaide, the doctor has two younger companions, one female and one male
  • At some point the doctor wears again his orange space suit

82.120.116.136 18:18, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

    • Without a source cited, though, this is all heresay and I removed one statement from the Rumours section accordingly. First off, it can't be the third special because a) the Next Doctor apparently isn't being officially counted as one of them, so the third special is nowhere near being filmed, and b) according to the reports I've seen the "2nd" special with Adelaide isn't scheduled for production for awhile yet. It's possible production is already under way and somehow OG and other sources have missed it, but we need to have a source for claims of photos (preferably links to photos). Otherwise it could be just stuff made up by an IP. 23skidoo 23:56, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

More rumours

How in heavens name can Bernard Cribbins and Jessica Hynes be spotted "on set" filming Specials 3 and 4 on March 21 when production of Special 2 didn't even begin until March 30??? Come on people. Until the the BBC makes an official announcement keep this stuff in the rumours section. And that goes for all those tabloid rumors of a companion reunion, too. 23skidoo 13:15, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

  • You are just writing nonsense. Special 2 shooting is now over. Special 3 and 4 are being shot since mid March. Jessica Hynes has not only been spotted but many pictures are available on line. The scene is a book signature scene with DT where she plays the author of a book called "Journal of impossible things". Besides, there is trailer of special 2 at the end of Planet of the Dead, which would not be achievable if Special 2 was filming from March 30. 82.120.129.174 21:54, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Catherine Tate in final special

  • Spotted on Set on 06th April 09 with Bernard Cribbins and Jaqueline King.
  • Whoever wrote this statement here needs to sign there name Catkind121 08:15, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
  • My Cousins freind said that he saw cathrine tate and john simm on set in cardiff so th master might come back Lewody1 19:53, 23 April 2009

RTD interview this morning

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7987179.stm Russell T says Planet of the Dead is Easter, the next one is "probably Novemberish" and "a huge two-part finale at Christmas". Also "at Christmas, we've got the Doctor's companion for these two episodes is Bernard Cribbins, which is so exciting" (sic). 90.198.228.238 14:25, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

The Waters of Mars

Where did this name come from. Catkind121 08:15, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

It looks like if it is true its the first time where the Doctor will go to Mars. Disney126 09:48, 9 April 2009

According to this page, The Waters of Mars is an anagram of War of the Masters. Coincidence? Red herring? [1] Ahlisten 22:54, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Davros

How likely is it that Davros and the Daleks will return in the Final 2 specials? Slideshow Bob 21:10, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

I think it's been stated elsewhere that they won't appear. But then, RTD said it was worse than we could imagine...--TheOmnius 18:13, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Midnight Entity

i saw this rumour "Given the Master's psychic ability, and the appearance of the low-intelligence Ood, a storyline may be that the Master has control of them, and is using them against the Doctor. The News of the World article, in the rumour above, shows a picture of the Doctor stumbling with Ood Sigma, with red-eye standing nearby staring at the Doctor".

Remember the unseen enemy in Midnight, in Waters of Mars, i think it could possess Ood Sigma, It could be possible that the Midnight Entity's could actually be the Master. 91.106.57.132 21:43, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

I hope Davros comes back in the Final Slideshow Bob 21:14, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Davros is a boring villian if he does not kill any one --Catkind121 10:38, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

If the Midnight Entity was, in fact, the Master, wouldn't the Doctor have known that when it "possessed" him? If Time Lords can recognize each other by sight in spite of regeneration, you'd think if one were in the other's head he'd have known it! --Deastrumquodvicis 14 July 2009

Music of the Spheres

There are conflicting reports as to whether Music of the Spheres Is considered a special.I personally think it is part of Series 4. But please tell me if I am wrong.

Things to be edited Since Page Lock

the page says "also in a animated serial entitled Dreamland." This is near the bottom of the first section. It should read "also in an animated serial entitled Dreamland.", someone put a instead of an. Cab someone please change it, thanks. Torchwood 2 21:01, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Aliens and Enemies

Why does its aliens and enemies box have the aliens, but before it has the name of the episode and none of the others have that?
