A stellar manipulator was a device used to alter stars and their life cycles. A stellar manipulator could manipulate all forms of energy from all forms of sun. (AUDIO: The Eight Truths)

History

The Gallifreyan stellar manipulator known as the Hand of Omega could cause stars to go supernova, providing the energy needed to enable time travel and power Time Lord society. (TV: The Three Doctors, Remembrance of the Daleks)

Morbius once acquired a stellar manipulator for his plans of universal dominance. However, the Eighth Doctor stole its control device in order to foil Morbius' plans. (AUDIO: The Vengeance of Morbius) Having been built to follow its control device, it followed the Doctor to the planet Orbis, where it disrupted the gravity of the planet and tore it apart. (AUDIO: Orbis) The Eight Legs then took over this stellar manipulator, and sent it towards Earth, where it became a second sun for the planet. (AUDIO: The Eight Truths) The Eight Legs used the stellar manipulator to power their psychic powers enough to spread their influence across the universe. The Eighth Doctor stopped this plan, then hid the manipulator away in a "dark corner of the universe". (AUDIO: Worldwide Web)

The One discovered records of a stellar manipulator during his time as a member of the High Council. Locating it, the Eleven sought to use it to destroy the Earth, but was defeated by the Doctor. (AUDIO: The Satanic Mill)

The Tear of Isha was a stellar manipulator kept in the Omega Arsenal on Gallifrey. Rassilon ordered its use against the Daleks in the Tantalus Eye. (PROSE: Engines of War)
