In 2000, Doctor Lauren Anderson worked as a psychiatrist at St John's Hospital in London.

She treated a variety of patients, primarily elderly people struck with dementia or other neural or nervous disorders. It was selected by PKD as the location for trials of the "new experimental drug" Cyberon, with St John's in exchange for large donations. However, though it worked wonders at first, the drug was actually an alien substance with a mind of its own which, after prolonged exposure, converted the patients who took it into emotionless cyborgs that served the hive mind.

Lauren eventually realised the truth and got rid of all the doses in St John's before going to confront Tom Mordley, the PKD doctor sent over to oversee the tests. After nearly killing Mordley and banishing the ghostly Cyberons who had begun to materialise, Lauren returned to work at St John's but was disheartened at the fallen hope of the patients who'd been on small doses of Cyberon and had bgun to see improvement in their conditions, only for it to all be taken away. (PROSE: Cyberon) Security camera footage from St John's during the camera incident was later acquired by the Preternatural Research Bureau and included by Giles in his video diary report on Lauren Anderson. Some years later, Lauren Anderson was no longer working at St John's and was instead attached to St Kitts Hospital. (HOMEVID: Zygon: When Being You Just Isn't Enough)
