Sontaran Flagship

General Staal's Sontaran command ship over Earth. (TV: The Sontaran Stratagem)

A Sontaran command ship of the Tenth Sontaran Battle Fleet was commanded by General Staal, until his death.

History[]

The ship arrived in orbit of Earth to spearhead an invasion that would turn the planet into a cloning world. It was linked to the surface via teleport pods between the ship, the ATMOS factory and the Rattigan Academy. When his plans to turn Earth into a clone world were foiled by the Tenth Doctor, using a prototype atmospheric converter device. General Staal became enraged and ordered the ship to turn it's planet destroying weapons toward Earth itself. The ship was destroyed by Luke Rattigan, when he teleported himself aboard the flagship, while saving the Doctor from being executed. Luke Rattigan sacrificed himself by activating the Doctor's atmospheric converter on the bridge, taking out the massive flagship and most of it's fleet in the process, including General Staal himself. (TV: The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky)

However, one Sontaran, Commander Kaagh, in flight near the mother ship, and had somehow managed to survive and crash landed his scout ship on Earth. He became intent on avenging his fallen comrades, who he himself thought they were murdered by the Doctor, when in fact it was actually Luke Rattigan who killed them. He was eventually defeated by Sarah Jane Smith, and was forced to leave Earth aboard his fully repaired Scout Ship, but not before swearing that he will return to get revenge on her.
