The Sons of Tepes were the main organisation of human mal'akh in the City of the Saved.
Unable to satisfy their natural bloodlust due to the City's state of grace, they redirected their inherently subversive nature and became a criminal cartel. Unfortunately for them, their namesake — Vlad III — was not, as his literary counterpart would indicated, a vampire. In fact, he was actively opposed to the mal'akh during his lifetime, and after his resurrection he became a recluse and had nothing to do with "his" Sons. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
During the City of the Saved Civil War, the Sons of Tepes allied with a section of the Catholic Church led by Pope Beatrix II. These alleged connections with the Sons of Tepes led the Conclave of All Popes to censure Beatrix, as relationships with vampires was considered necromancy.
Beatrix hatched a plan where a Christian cleric, accompanied by a "strix" from the Sons of Tepes for protection, would try to reason with Lord Mayor Lucius Cassius Ignotus; if he would not be negotiated with, the strix was to kill him. However, after Urbanus Ignotus let the two agents into the Villa Ignota, the strix acted on its own instructions (PROSE: A Hundred Words from a Civil War) from Grand Dragon Krisztina-Judit Németh (PROSE: A Hundred Words from a Civil War, Unification Theory) and gave the vampiric taint to Ignotus' relief bodyguard, Gerib the Blemmye. Gerib later bit and converted Ignotus as well. The Grand Dragon believed that this would allow the Sons of Tepes to control Ignotus. (PROSE: A Hundred Words from a Civil War)
While testing the limits of his new vampirism, Ignotus ordered HG, the Chief Air Marshall of the Civil Air Force, to drive a pseudosun into the Sons of Tepes headquarters at Mt Erdely in Sarmatick Mountain Park. (PROSE: A Hundred Words from a Civil War)
