Slapping

Slapping was the act of striking a target with an open hand. Slapping a person across the face was a common form of physical assault.

Following River Song revealing to Dibbsworth that they were in a miniscope, she slapped him to break his shock. She questioned though if a slap actually did break shock or just something that people did. In an alternate 2003 where the Sixth Doctor and Evelyn Smythe defeated the Daleks in 1903, Miriam Rochester slaps Farrow for saying "Hadn't we?" as opposed to "Had we not?" as using contractions is prohibited due to Dalek culture. (AUDIO: Jubilee)

After the Ninth Doctor returned Rose Tyler to Earth in 2006 following a 12-month absence, her mother, Jackie, having spent all that time frantic with worry over her daughter's unexplained disappearance, angrily slapped him. The Doctor later remarked how much the slap hurt, claiming that in "nine hundred years of time and space" he had never been slapped by someone's mother. River Song slapped a 909 year old version of the Doctor, the Time Lord waving this off as a result of something he'd yet to do. When the Eleventh Doctor fought with Mr Clever for control of his body, Clara Oswald would slap him to create a synaptic burst necessary for him to resume control. (TV: Nightmare in Silver [+]Neil Gaiman, Doctor Who series 7 (BBC One, 2013).)

After Jenny Flint had helped cure him from the effects of Mr. Sweet's toxin, the Eleventh Doctor kissed her who slapped him in response, the Doctor saying it felt good after the toxin's effects. (TV: The Crimson Horror [+]Mark Gatiss, Doctor Who series 7 (BBC One, 2013).)

During the Siege of Trenzalore, when Tasha Lem had been converted into a Dalek puppet, she slapped the Eleventh Doctor for his insulting comments that had generated the anger necessary to break free of the Dalek programming. Fourteenth slap recoil

When the Fourteenth Doctor turned up at the Nobles' home in 2023, at the same time as when Donna discovered the Meep hiding in their garden shed, Sylvia, exasperated at once again having to deal with extra-terrestrials, this time at risk to her daughter's life, slapped the Doctor. Having once again taken up the habit of being slapped by his companions' mothers, the Doctor muttered "here we go again" under his breath as he recoiled.
