Silverman was a psychic. He was acquainted with Bart Addison.

One day in 1947 Addison brought a stranger to see Silverman. The stranger had lost his memory, and Addison wanted Silverman to help him. Silverman examined several items from the stranger's pockets, using psychometry to determine from where each item came, hoping to jog the stranger's memories. (PROSE: Playback)
