A shop was a retail business.

There was a repair shop in the Citadel of the Time Lords on Gallifrey; among the items there were TARDISes. Two technicians, Andro and Fabian, were working there when the First Doctor, with his granddaughter, stole a faulty Type 40 TARDIS. (TV: The Name of the Doctor)

The Second Doctor, Ben and Polly visited The Psychadelic Shop in January 1967, at which time the Doctor was particularly interested in various bongs and pipes that were on offer. (PROSE: Wonderland)

The Pyramid was a combination coffee shop and book shop in Little Caldwell, run by Admiral Isaac Summerfield II, that was a front for a "safe house" for aliens and the temporally-stranded. It was active beginning in the mid-1960s, and was still active in 1983. (PROSE: Return of the Living Dad)

After the Dummy Massacre on 26 March 2005, people vowed to boycott shops with dummies, but soon went back on their word, although the shops did remove the hands of the dummies, a glimmer of acknowledgement of the attack that had unfolded not long before.
