Shadow of a Doubt was an audio story that was made specifically for the Doctor Who: Lockdown! event. It was the first of two stories written by Paul Cornell to coincide with the watchalong of Human Nature / The Family of Blood.
Plot[]
In the ruins of Andromeda, Bernice Summerfield finds a mirror from Earth, in which she speaks to Daughter of Mine, who talks about the Doctors who have met her.
A few years later, Benny comes back, but the mirror was gone.

Worldbuilding[]
- Daughter of Mine recalls being visited by many different Doctors, once a month, forever. She was visited by:
- The old one with all the hair who had been "the worst".
- The one Benny travelled with who had also been "the worst".
- The thin white aristocrat.
- The one who couldn't walk.
- The one with red hair who thought he was the last.
- Daughter of Mine recalls the Doctor describing themselves as a "story that happened many times in many ways".
Story notes[]
- This story serves as the second part of a "shadow" trilogy by Paul Cornell, which began with The Shadow Passes and ended with The Shadow in the Mirror. Two other Paul Cornell stories use the word ‘shadow’ in the title; The Shadow of the Scourge and The Shadows of Avalon, but these were published decades earlier and Cornell does not consider these to be official entries into the ‘shadow’ saga.
- This story was published in prose format in Adventures in Lockdown.
Continuity[]
- Daughter of Mine asked the Doctors how she could be sorry for a story that happened many times in many ways, not all of which she was even present for. (PROSE: Human Nature, TV: Human Nature, The Family of Blood, AUDIO: Master)
- Benny returned to the ruins many years later to find the mirror had gone. (WC: The Shadow in the Mirror)
