Second Wave was a Doctor Who: Battles in Time comic story featuring the Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones.

Opening narration box

The Doctor and Martha follow the two groups of thieving aliens to the 19th century...

Summary

The TARDIS arrives on board an American merchant sailing ship, and the Doctor and Martha are soon apprehended by the crew. They are about be thrown overboard, having been mistaken for French agents by Captain Ross (a belief attributed to the trade war between America and France which was to end in the next year).

Before this can happen, the ship is attacked by alien robbers. Their own crafts pull up on either side. As the sailing ship tries to make its escape, the Doctor is busy using the ship's rations to create a mulch. When fired from a harpoon gun, it clogs the air intake valves of one of the alien crafts and disables their weapon.

As one ship begins to sink, the Doctor climbs along the ship's bowsprit to reach the other alien ship. Using his sonic screwdriver and selecting setting 34-H the Doctor sinks the second alien craft. As the aliens transport away again, the Doctor is warned not to interfere in the contest. The Doctor and Martha head off in pursuit in the TARDIS.
