Savoy Hotel

The Savoy Hotel was a hotel located on the Strand in London. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Exodus [+]Terrance Dicks, Virgin New Adventures (Virgin Books, 1991).)

History[]

On 26 June 1890, the Eleventh Doctor took his mother- and father-in-law, Amy Pond and Rory Williams, to the Savoy Hotel for an anniversary present. The hotel had only recently opened at that time. He assured them there would be no complications, only to discover there was a Zygon ship under the Savoy, and half of the staff were impostors. The Doctor, Amy and Rory managed to deal with this. (TV: The Power of Three [+]Chris Chibnall, Doctor Who series 7 (BBC One, 2012).) An old woman saw the "red knobbly fellas" being chased by the "abandy-legged bloke" with "a buzzin' pen", and took advantage of the commotion to steal some expensive liver and onions from one of the dining tables. (PROSE: The Ghoul [+]Error: Code 2 - no data stored in variables, cache or SMW.)

In 1969, after writing a successful article for the Daily Chronicle, James Stevens celebrated at the Savoy. A drunken Stevens had sex with a woman named Natasha in her room. At the same time, Noël Coward lived in the Savoy Hotel. (PROSE: Who Killed Kennedy [+]David Bishop, Virgin Books (1996).)

Alternate timelines[]

In an alternate timeline in which Germany won World War II, the Savoy Hotel was used as headquarters for the Britischer Freikorps in 1951. Lieutenant Anthony Rupert Hemmings took the Seventh Doctor and Ace there when he arrested them at the Festival of Britain. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Exodus [+]Terrance Dicks, Virgin New Adventures (Virgin Books, 1991).)

In another alternate timeline, the Fifth Doctor visited the Savoy Hotel in 2158 and met General Tillington. (AUDIO: Renaissance of the Daleks [+]Christopher H. Bidmead, Main Range (Big Finish Productions, 2007).)
