Salzburg

Salzburg was an Austrian city. The name meant "salt castle" because they used to mine salt in the vicinity. Denizens of the city were called Salzburgians. (AUDIO: Better Watch Out)

For the Eighth Doctor, the city was the home of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and firmly associated with the film The Sound of Music, which he could endlessly quote. (AUDIO: Better Watch Out)

In the early 21st century, (AUDIO: Day of the Master) the Eighth Doctor, Liv Chenka and Helen Sinclair visited Salzburg on 5 December. Angry at her landlord, Maria Werner made a wish that Krampus be real. mysterious man at a Christmas market made the wish come true. Imps serving the Krampus implemented zero-tolerance for bad deeds and brought all inhabitants of the city to the gates of hell through which the gigantic Krampus appeared. Helen piloted the TARDIS to 4th century Asia Minor and brought back St Nicholas, who was the only one, according to the myth, who could stop the Krampus. Undated events[]

The Fifth Doctor and Vislor Turlough visited Salzburg on 4 December one year trying to save children from an alien, who was hiding in a barn. In the end the children killed the creature. (PROSE: Do You Believe in the Krampus?)
