The Sacred Wood was a wooded area somewhere between Londinium and Camulodunum in the 1st century.

It was composed primarily of tall, old oak trees. (GAME: "The Sacred Wood" [+]Part of The Legions of Death, J. Andrew Keith, The Doctor Who Role Playing Game (FASA, 1986).) As its name implied, it was considered sacred by" the Druid order, (GAME: "Plot Synopsis" [+]Part of The Legions of Death, J. Andrew Keith, The Doctor Who Role Playing Game (FASA, 1986).) and, indeed, it emitted a mysterious "aura of power" which only humans could feel, and not Time Lords. During his plot to meddle with the Roman conquest of Britain, the War Chief disguised his TARDIS as a sacred oak tree in a clearing at the heart of the Sacred Wood, (GAME: "The Sacred Wood" [+]Part of The Legions of Death, J. Andrew Keith, The Doctor Who Role Playing Game (FASA, 1986).) making them the locus of his cult of the "Inner Mysteries". Thereafter, among the Britons, only chieftains who had been initiated into the Mysteries were permitted into the Wood, although Princess Branimandua sneaked into the Wood's edge on several occasions. (GAME: "In the Briton camp" [+]Part of The Legions of Death, J. Andrew Keith, The Doctor Who Role Playing Game (FASA, 1986).)

The War Chief's plans were eventually foiled by a group of time travellers who may have included any of Time Lords the Third Doctor, the Colonel or Leora. (GAME: The Legions of Death [+]J. Andrew Keith, The Doctor Who Role Playing Game (FASA, 1986).) The War Chief was forced to flee, though some possibilities would have seen him leave the TARDIS behind, still disguised as the sacred tree. (GAME: "Ending the Adventure" [+]Part of The Legions of Death, J. Andrew Keith, The Doctor Who Role Playing Game (FASA, 1986).)
