Ruby Sunday was a member of a band with Trudy, (TV: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas Special 2023 (BBC One and Disney+, 2023).) Clark, and Big Jim. Trudy was the singer, Ruby was the keyboardist, Clark was the guitarist and Big Jim was the drummer. History[]

On 22 December 2023, the band performed their "usual set" of Christmas songs, some old classics, some crowd-pleasers, and some "newer, cooler" Christmas anthems, at a pub in London. It was a small, low-paying gig, but Ruby didn't complain as she needed the money. Before getting on stage, Ruby had playfully fought with Trudy to wear a tinsel scarf, leaving bits of it in the latter's hair, whilst Clark laughed so much his tears ruined his David Bowie-inspired eyeliner.

As they were performing "Winter Wonderland" — Trudy singing, Ruby playing the musical keyboard, Clark "lovingly" playing the guitar, and Big Jim drumming — (PROSE: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson, adapted from The Church on Ruby Road (Russell T Davies), BBC Books novelisations (BBC Books, 2024). Chapter Three; Pages 13-16.) a Goblin pulled the plug on their instruments, (TV: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas Special 2023 (BBC One and Disney+, 2023).) and Ruby reasoned that a fuse must have blown. (PROSE: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson, adapted from The Church on Ruby Road (Russell T Davies), BBC Books novelisations (BBC Books, 2024). Chapter Three; Pages 13-16.) After their audiences' brief moment of startle, a woman who looked vaguely like a hippy asked them to perform "Gaudete", but Trudy was unfamiliar with the song (TV: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas Special 2023 (BBC One and Disney+, 2023).) and also told the woman that the band didn't take requests. Ruby hid her smile at Trudy's behaviour. (PROSE: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson, adapted from The Church on Ruby Road (Russell T Davies), BBC Books novelisations (BBC Books, 2024). Chapter Three; Pages 13-16.) Unbeknownst to them, the Fifteenth Doctor was watching them, having witnessed the whole debacle. (TV: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who Christmas Special 2023 (BBC One and Disney+, 2023).)

The next day, in a nightclub, as the group discussed what happened at the gig, Trudy revealed that she had discovered the unplugged plug.
