Rubathon Blue of the 57th Hemisphere Hatchling was a companion of the Fifteenth Doctor in an alternate timeline where she replaced the human Ruby Sunday when time was changed accidentally.
Following Ruby Sunday accidentally stepping on a butterfly in Earth's distant past, the timeline was changed because the Doctor had forgotten to switch on the butterfly compensation switch in his TARDIS, altering the planet's history. This created a separate future in which the human race was replaced with reptillian humanoids, including Rubathon Blue.
The Doctor was concerned by the change, which offended Rubathon, who threatened to kill him if he believed that she had done something wrong. He then managed to convince Rubathon to move her foot from the butterfly, allowing him to heal it. His actions meant that Rubathon's timeline was aborted, and Ruby Sunday was restored. The Doctor then made sure to turn on the butterfly compensation switch within the TARDIS to ensure similar timelines could not happen again. - The appearance of Rubathon Blue was created using makeup and prosthetics, applied in just under two hours. Actress Millie Gibson was a little nervous about it, as it was her first time wearing prosthetics, but came to thoroughly enjoy it after seeing the appearance of the character. Showrunner Russell T Davies suggested that it might be worth bringing the character back for a spinoff series: "What happened when that little pocket of time ceased to exist?
