Sir Joseph Mallard was Deputy Warden of the Royal Mint in 1814. His wife, Georgiana, when possessed by the Phoenix, tried to use the forge of the building to hatch the egg of the bird and let it out. She succeeded, but the new-born babe was killed immediately after by the joined forces of the First Doctor, Vicki Pallister, Steven Taylor and Jane Austen, which closed the door of the forge as they switched off the fire.
