Robert Buchan Jnr was a human, son of Bert Buchan and a friend of Charlotte Pollard.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Robert Buchan Jnr was born on Earth to Robert "Bert" Buchan Snr and his wife. (AUDIO: The Lamentation Cipher) He studied at business school (AUDIO: Seed of Chaos) before becoming an investment broker for his father's company, a job that he did not much care for but which enabled him to travel, something that he had always wanted to do. (AUDIO: The Lamentation Cipher)

Meeting Charley[]

Whilst in Brouhaha-Nine-Nine-Five, Robert spent an hour on the fifth moon of the Indecisive Torrent in the TK system and became infected with the Obscurantist. He then visited the Jolly Brewer to view the Prolixity and flirted with Charlotte Pollard, who realised that he was infected and took him to the Viyrans to be cured. After this, he had his memory of the events wiped.

Robert met Charley a second time whilst the Prolixity was expanding and offered to take her to Earth with him in his ship. However, the Viyrans stopped Charley and erased Robert's memory a second time. He spoke with his father about the Prolixity and how Bert could exploit it for profit, suggestions which Robert believed were unfair. As he headed back to Earth, he saw Charley's pod enter the Prolixity. (AUDIO: The Lamentation Cipher)

The Viyrans[]

This section's awfully stubby.

Information from The Viyran Solution needs to be added

As part of a "political marriage", his father betrothed him to Dr Millicent Belanger III. He succeeded Charley Pollard as the Viyrans' human liaison and served in that position for at least two years. (AUDIO: The Viyran Solution)

In the 21st century[]

Robert and Charley arrived in the London Underground in the early 21st century, where Robert was promptly sick and finally learnt that Charley was a time traveller from 1930. The pair were tranquilised, captured and interrogated separately by Department 001 before they allowed Robert to join Charley in her room, after which the Rogue Viyran joined them and they were confronted by two Identical Men who intended to kill the three of them. (AUDIO: Embankment Station)

Robert S2

Robert in the 21st century. (AUDIO: Charlotte Pollard: Series Two)

Escaping thanks to the Rogue Viyran's ruffling power, Robert and Charley escaped with their alien friend whom Charley christened "Bertram", a name that amused Robert. The trio were stopped at Trafalgar Square and taken to Westminster Police Station before being taken to Woking, who locked Robert and Charley up with Naomi Davies whilst interrogating Bertram. Robert, Charley and Naomi escaped thanks to Bertram tripping the power but the four of them, joined by Rab, were prevented from escaping by a gun-toting Woking. (AUDIO: Ruffling)

Robert fled with the group and the collapsed Woking from the zombified Captain Warwick and his men until a train hit the pursuers. When Charley told Robert to call an ambulance for Woking, he delegated the task to Rab due to his unfamiliarity with the technology and, like Charley and Bertram, later agreed to help Woking. They returned to Embankment and encountered the Identical Men, from whom they escaped thanks to Bertram's newfound powers. (AUDIO: Seed of Chaos)

Life as a slave[]

Robert, Charley and Bertram found themselves in the Gelrasians' web above Gelrasi. Whilst Bertram disappeared, Robert and Charley were cocooned before being taken to a culling by the Proto-Viyrans, which they survived. After this, they were sent down to the surface and force to harvest the orange coral which the Identical Men were made of, although they were unaware of the reason why.

Robert and Charley developed an understanding over their years together as slaves. They picked up some of the other humanoids' language to allow some sort of communication and, after what they believed to be about ten years, they were reunited with Bertram. However, Bertram had joined the Proto-Viyran cause and, after telling them why they had been enslaved and what the Identical Men were for, he shot at Robert and Charley. (AUDIO: The Destructive Quality of Life)

Personality[]

Robert was not interested in his job at his father's company and wanted to be an adventurer and a detective. (AUDIO: The Lamentation Cipher) When he and Charley travelled through the Prolixity, he realised that he had no reason nor desire to return home. (AUDIO: Ruffling) He had a weak stomach (AUDIO: The Lamentation Cipher) and was surprised to find that he was okay with the sight of blood. (AUDIO: Seed of Chaos) His father believed that he was too sentimental and that his sentiment would be the death of him. (AUDIO: The Lamentation Cipher)

Appearance[]

Charley thought that Robert was handsome. (AUDIO: The Viyran Solution)
