Rijksmuseum

Rijksmuseum was a museum in Amsterdam.

In 1983, the Fifth Doctor, Tegan and Nyssa visited an exhibit of Rembrandt van Rijn's work in the Rijksmuseum. (AUDIO: The Waters of Amsterdam)

In the 33rd century, the Seventh Doctor saved Rembrandt's painting The Night Watch from this museum before it burned down. (AUDIO: Dust Breeding)

Behind the scenes

The name of the museum translates from Dutch as "State Museum".

The production materials for The Waters of Amsterdam [1] featured an incorrect spelling "Rijkmuseum" but the writer's notes for the story by Jonathan Morris [2] gave the correct spelling.
