Major Rex Butcher was a military officer and a writer on an alternate Earth.
He was the head of security at "the Hill", the American nuclear weapons testing facility in Los Alamos. Before that, Butcher worked for the Pinkerton Agency. He also wrote detective novels, amongst them Yellow City, Hell's Inheritance and The Hawk of Gibraltar. (PROSE: Atom Bomb Blues)
