Monsters and Companions was the fourth skit included amongst the interviews within the 1994 home video special release More than 30 Years in the TARDIS. Although the first skit broke the fourth wall, this was the first to be an outright parody.

Plot[]

Jon Pertwee, talking about how much he liked the cliffhangers in Doctor Who while at the wheel of the Whomobile, suddenly finds himself in one as he looks up to find a Tyrannosaurus rex roaring at him. After the credits roll, the next episode finds him miraculously escaping as the T-rex vanishes, only to drive right towards some Velociraptors.

Story notes[]

  • This story is a parody of Invasion of the Dinosaurs, and smoothly transitioned from an actual interview piece with Pertwee.
  • The title card of the "second episode" gave the title of this Part 2 as Monsters and Companions (after the fashion of early serials which had different titles for each instalment).
