The Red Tavern was a pub in London. Prior to being murdered by Jack the Ripper in 1888, Elizabeth "Long Liz" Stride used to drink in the Red Tavern. (AUDIO: The Wax Princess)

Ellie Higson was a barmaid in the Tavern in the 1890s. It was here that she met and became friends with Henry Gordon Jago and Professor George Litefoot. (AUDIO: The Mahogany Murderers, AUDIO: Jago and Litefoot)

During this time, she was turned into a vampire, but managed to control her bloodlust for decades. (AUDIO: The Necropolis Express) By 1968, Ellie had become landlady of the Red Tavern, and owned her own chain of restaurants. That year was also when she was reunited with Jago and Litefoot, who had been left in the 1968 Red Tavern by the Sixth Doctor. (AUDIO: The Age of Revolution, Voyage to the New World)
