According to the Dalek Combat Training Manual compiled by the Time Lords during the Last Great Time War, the Gallifreyans had done "meticulous research" into the Dalek conflict against the Space Security Service, mentioning that they had discovered how "a red Dalek leader" had served as a high-ranking officer of the special Dalek forces during the campaign. Nevertheless, the text did not clarify if the officer in question was the Red Dalek Leader, or merely another Dalek that had attained the rank. This leader oversaw silver Daleks and was supported by a red-domed subordinate. (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual)
Characteristics[]
The Red Dalek and its subordinates mostly resembled what the Time Lords identified as "Type III" casings. This variant of the Type III casing sported large blue luminosity dischargers and slats but with a larger base unit fender matching the "Type II" Dalek Earthforce. Whilst the subordinates' fenders were black, the Red Dalek's fender was red to match its casing. The Red Dalek was further distinguished by its sense globes which were coloured black in contrast to the blue of its subordinates; as noted elsewhere in the Dalek Combat Training Manual, black sense globes were "multiphase" improvements to earlier blue globes and would be seen on later grey Daleks and silver Daleks. (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual) It bore a strong resemblance to the red Saucer-Pilot Dalek active in the 2150 Dalek invasion of Earth which was opposed by Dr. Who in a version of history "B".
